Under the strictest "plastic ban" for farmlands, thicker and biodegradable mulching films are entering a golden age of development.
To fundamentally address "white pollution" in farmlands, the government has recently introduced a series of policies and regulations dubbed the "strictest plastic ban" for agriculture. These policies explicitly prohibit the production, sale, and use of polyethylene mulching films thinner than 0.01 millimeters, and strongly promote the use of thicker, high-strength mulching films and fully biodegradable mulching films. This mandatory standard is fundamentally changing the market landscape and product direction of the mulching film industry.
Thicker, high-strength mulching films (typically ≥0.015mm thick) offer stronger tensile strength and aging resistance, allowing for complete recycling after use, thus solving the problem of "uncollectible" plastic waste at the source. Fully biodegradable mulching films represent an even more advanced solution, as they can be ultimately decomposed into water and carbon dioxide by soil microorganisms under specific environmental conditions, achieving the environmental goal of "zero residue."
